The Section of Gynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The University of Chicago Medicine is a thriving patient-centered academic Section dedicated to excellence in healthcare, education, and scholarship.

Our high-volume board-certified urogynecologists are experienced in all routes of surgery for urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse, and our Section has the highest volume of robotic sacral colpopexy in the Chicagoland area. Our team has extensive experience with complex pelvic floor disorders, fistulae, and complications associated with vaginal mesh including surgical removal of eroded and contracted mesh. We are able to use a multidisciplinary approach for complex cases, collaborating with colleagues in Urology and Colorectal Surgery.

Our Section has a strong research program.  We have established a comprehensive prospective database of women with pelvic organ prolapse that is a rich resource for scholarly investigation of a wide range of risk factors and treatments for prolapse. Our clinical research coordinator provides support to allow productive scholarship in the context of our successful clinical practice.

Our members are active members of the American Urogynecologic Society and are leaders in the Institution, including the President of University’s Medical Staff Organization and Vice-Chair of the Department. Our faculty members also play a vital role in the education of students, residents, and fellows. With our colleagues at NorthShore University HealthSystem, we offer a highly competitive, ABOG-approved Fellowship training program in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery.
